Suede are way too busy and one can't hop over to London all the time, right? Luckily some people don't agree, so Katja and Britta, our wonderful Instagram team, went to experience Coming up in immersive 360° spatial audio at London's Polygon Portal. And they are happy to share the Q&As with Mat and Neil with all of us.

First session

"We were kind of learning on the job," Neil remembers of the recording of Coming Up. "Luckily, we had the confidence of youth. Richard was 18 and he had zero fear about what he could do. Just absolute confidence in playing guitar and in the songs he had written. As I remember it, it was quite a joyous, simple thing to get songs out of your head and onto a tape."

"Debut albums are lovely things generally," adds Mat. "Most bands don't get more than one chance to make a debut album."

Second session

"I never listen to old stuff for pleasure," Neil says. "It's only ever to refresh your memory about things. To hear it with all its individual parts a bit more exposed, it puts you back straight into the room when you were doing it. So it's a little kind of time capsule. Your brain is straight back there."

"I have kind of forgotten how artificial it sounds as a record. It's very obviously constructed as a record. It's very fizzy and bright," adds Mat. "We wanted something that felt almost like plastic."

And why not give us a follow on Instagram? It's the first place where you'll find each night's setlist!
