Directed By:

"His (Kubrick) work has not ceased to fascinate me since I discovered him with Dr. Strangelove and (The) Shining: how can one cinematographer create a masterpiece with every genre he attempted?" - Brett Anderson, Les Inrockuptibles, 1999
The Shining is a psychological horror dealing with various themes including alcoholism, abuse and isolation. A dysfunctional family torn apart. There are many fan theories flooding the internet about the film and the more you watch it the more you discover, which in turn raises more questions. It brings to mind one of Brett's favourite quotes by Francis Bacon: "The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery."
