Tell us about the tattoo: why this image/text specifically? what does it mean to you personally? why did you pick this specific design?

EIOP is my life song, and I fell in love with it the very first time I'd heard this masterpiece.

At first, I only had it tattooed on my left foot. Having Brett’s handwriting was very important to me, because that was what made it feel truly “real”. And why my foot? My feet carry me everywhere I want to go. And Suede is always with me, carrying me along the way.

After having my left foot tattooed, I very quickly felt that my right foot looked “empty”. So the decision to get the tattoo on my right foot as well wasn’t really a question.

I went back to my tattoo artist and we talked about it. Then he came up with the idea: why not have the same tattoo mirrored? And not just the design, but also the black and white reversed, so that it would be the exact opposite of the one on my left foot.

Two hours later, it was on my right foot. And ever since, I’ve carried Suede with me wherever I go.

Where did you get your tattoo done (studio and/or artist)?

The tattoo artist no longer has an official studio, and I was very lucky to get an appointment with him back then, thanks to a good friend of mine.

Since this tattoo is now more than 10 years old, I have to admit: don’t ask me for the artist’s name - I honestly couldn’t tell you!

Do you have any plans for more Suede related tattoos and if so, what are they?

At the moment, I don’t have any plans to get any more tattoos done. That said, I’m completely blown away by June Rain and its lyrics. So never say never… Maybe one day, somewhere on my body, a part of those lyrics will be there too.
