SUEDE play a midnight gig at the London Oxford Street Virgin Megastore on September 1, the day before the release of their new album, 'Coming Up'. Admission is free, but people have to obtain tickets in advance from the customer services desk in the Megastore from August 27 onwards.

Meanwhile, Suede are urging people to take part in a charity campaign to stamp out the use of animals in medical experiments.

Brett Anderson and the rest of the band are backing a national sponsored walk taking place on September 15 on behalf of the Dr Hawden Trust, which raises money to fund alternative methods of medical research.

The band said: "Let's hope the Dr Hawden Trust's work is symptomatic of the slow but sure swing to concern for all forms of life on this planet and that as many people as possible take part in the sponsored walk to help speed up that process."

The organisation is seeking to raise £12,000 to fund a year of "compassionate research" at Great Ormond Street Hospital through the walk, which is taking place at 40 venues nationwide.

You can find out more information about the walk by calling 01462 436819.
